PHILOSOPHY

We believe each learner carries within them a unique blueprint, an innate nature waiting to unfold.

Self-directed learning is about allowing this growth to happen organically, much like a tree in a forest, interconnected with the world around it. Our learners develop awareness of their context—the planet, their community—and take active roles in shaping their environment. Through this, they gain knowledge, adaptability, and the ability to thrive.

Like a Khejri seed that inevitably becomes a Khejri tree, every learner holds untapped potential. Our role is to provide the right conditions for that potential to flourish.

At Dhun School, learning is lifelong, rooted in cultural context and real-world engagement. Through project-based learning and civic participation, students become active contributors to their community. Guided by educational research and enriched by Dhun’s natural setting, our curriculum fosters independence, decision-making, and adaptability.

Our graduates don’t just acquire knowledge—they transform ideas into reality, passions into a way of life, becoming self-sufficient, compassionate participants in their communities, locally and globally.

Jatan Shekhawat

Jatan’s journey with Dhun School began with her 5 year-old daughter. As a parent, she saw how traditional schooling stifled individuality, while autonomy, community, and diverse experiences helped her child’s creativity flourish. During the 2020 pandemic, she began unschooling her daughter, witnessing firsthand the power of personalized learning. Inspired, she co-created a small-scale school that thrived, reinforcing her commitment to holistic, learner-centered education.

Preksha Singh

Preksha’s education began in government schools, where she felt unseen and uninspired. A transformative gap year—traveling, volunteering, and learning from diverse thinkers—ignited her passion for self-directed learning. She later co-founded Travellers University, offering experiential learning pathways for youth in India. Her journey continued with a master’s at Harvard University, contributing to Social Emotional Learning research at the EASEL Lab. This breadth of experience fuels her vision to create educational spaces where students define their own paths to purpose and fulfillment.
